2019 China Huaiyang Cuisine Invitational Competition was held in Huaian on May 8. About 48 Huaiyang cuisine masters from provinces and regions of Shanghai, Zhejiang, Anhui, and Jiangsu etc. gathered in Huaian, Jiangsu Province to jointly demonstrate and learn the cooking skills of Huaiyang cuisine.
With the referee's order, the competition for freshwater fish dishes officially began. Eight contestants brought their own specialties. Cooked carefully, 8 dishes came out of the pot one after another, and the judges made a comprehensive evaluation according to the color, fragrance, taste and shape of the dishes.
Contestant Ma Shaobao said: "what is done today is meat balls made from catfish pouring crab, which is crisp outside and tender inside as well as delicious in the taste, I think as long as I make it seriously, every dish is fine."
Competitions for seafood, livestock meat, poultry, soy bean products, vegetarian and specialty fried rice were also held in the event. Creative and exquisite dishes also highlighted the theme of "green, ecological, safe, and innovative".
In addition to the competition for cooking skills, there was also a food exhibition area at the scene, focusing on more than 120 dishes, including traditional famous dishes and innovative dishes, which presented a feast of Huaiyang cuisine and culture for the audience.
